Hey everyone, just bought a pocket dirt bike for my son, I don't know what size of engine, I am sure it is a 49cc, I thought it would be nice to work on it as it is just cheap made in China but it is getting to be a pain in the *** to start, on the carb it says open with the arrow pointing down but I know that choke is up cause it won't run with it up, starting it is hard it always floods itself without even firing then I have to take out the plug and dry it off, it takes 10 minutes to start it, anyway great to be here and I hope everyone can help me make it run better.

Welcome to the site...You will need to improve the design to get better enjoyability out of that bike....

First things id do are ......(get rid of that floater carb and get a pumper hp carb setup for it but thats me and my opinion........)

remove and disassemble the stock floater carb and thoroughly clean the carb and reset the float forks to be even and close precisely at the right height

petcock mod

upgrade fuelline/filter to 1/4" and install a stens in-line fuel shutoff if you do the petcock mod

regap coil to flywheel to .020"

reedstop mod and inspect the reeds for proper sealing

hp sparkwire mod

NGK sparkplug #BM6A gapped to .030"

Mod and lighten the clutch pads

Lighten the flywheel

Add a rocket key to advance the timing

If your handy with a dremel you can mod the engine to have over double its current power aswell.......Good Luck

I need help with my X15 but I can't figure out how to post a new thread. Sorry of this isn't the right place, but I'm knew as well. I have a picture of my bike to show. It came with pretty much nothing, no battery, no fuse, no fairings or lights, speedo is disconnected, so basically nothing electric is hooked up. It still starts with a kick start even without a battery. It will continue to run if I continually rev the engine. If I let it sit for one second it dies. I replaced the carb and the plastic o ring from the intake to carb so I know its not the carb, checked the spark plug and it had a little oil on it. So I think my question is why won't it idle? Do I have to get a new wiring set and re wire the hole thing and put a battery on it? Please any info would be great thanks. It's a X15 GS57 with a 110cc manual 1 down 3 up.

Welcome aboard, is it a new or used bike?? Sounds like a 49cc reed port Cag engine 44mm bore with a 12mm crankshaft & a 12mm piston carb w/ choke lever. When the lever is down the carb is open, when its up its closed or the choke is on. I would first take the float bowl off and look at the main jet. Or you could take the air filter off, then the carb and reed plate off the back of the engine. Make sure the reeds are sealing on the rubber pads.

GS57 Your 110cc has a 6 coil stator that makes 13.7 volts. That and a center magnet rotor. Which means you can kick start it. All you need is a kill switch or key that grounds the coil to stop the engine.
You have a CDI ignition, & voltage regulator, or rectifier as they call it sometimes. Think you can get a new wiring harness for $20, but batteries and all the stuff you need to make it new cost alot, more than its worth. So, make a Rat Bike, light is fast. PS: you need 15 or 20 post to make a Thread. Find the button New Thread near the top part of the page somewhere.

Thank you, I agree I will just make it a rad rod type bike, as long as its fast and nasty lol I've never even got on a bike but one dirt bike as a kid. Very fun. So with the harness I have now could I just cut parts off and ad a battery to keep it running, I believe it has a kill switch, I have to flick a switch near the throdle to kick start it. Learned that after 20 min of kick starting nothing lol

Thanks for the upgrade list, is there threads with pictures on how to do these upgrades? I have to fix this carb problem fast, when I get it running and I put the lever up to close the choke, the bike shuts off, and when it takes me ten minutes of pulling it over the whole neighborhood hears me cursing, and so does my boy
