I found a FF Cag at the skatepark the other day missing it's rear wheel. So I brought it home for a winter project. Well This bike is pretty rough but over the winter I will bring it back to life and hopefully have it ready for riding season. On to the build.

The Tear Down

Full of spiders, earwigs and leaves. Yuk! So I took of all the fairings for a good cleaning.

Whoever owned this bike before was an idiot on had super long bolts for the exhaust and they were bottomed out in the threads and still to long by 1/2"

The bolts were missing to hold the air filter on so the previous owner used wired to hold ithe filter on lol.

Now it's stripped down to bare frame and is ready for me to wash it down and prep it for paint.

Parts list:
Back rim
Back tire
Axle
Sprocket (looking for good torque any opinions)
Build the motor (but that comes later)

That's all I've done so far. Now I'm going to clean it and will update when I'm done.
Well I took a look at the motor, it turns over and has compression but bugs keep falling out of it lol. The clutch is toast and has a broken clutch pad. So I'm just going to tear it down and rebuild it with of the shelf performance parts.
that looks exactly like mine could you i.d mine what i found in a skip please :)
I am in the process of tearing the 40mm(47cc) engine apart and so far I have the head, carburetor, flywheel and clutch off. There are 4 allen bolts that hold the crank case together I got 2 bolts out but the other 2 are stripped.

I am now debating on buying a race motor to just bolt in or if I should rebuild and modify this one.
buy a race motor cheap enough to buy mate :) I am gonna
strip my frame and sort it out and then paint

One of these makes taking these small engines apart a breeze............A 40mm piston X 32mm bore is a 43cc engine......

Two screws and a lil heat from a plumbers torch will release it

I got the bolts in now I just have to find my torch lol. Here is my rusty bell housing that doesn't spin.

Wow I hate to see what your clutch screws and pads look like...100 grit sandpaper will take care of that bell ..........The bearing is 6202rs
Ahaha they are gross looking and one of the pad arm was snapped. I'll post more pictures later.

I would look for a new 44mm 49+cc B/B engine w/ FC crank and billet head for $130. If you start buying parts you will end up spending more than that. A engine like this, see photo.

Where can I get one of those for only $130?

I'm thinking about buying the crate engine from pbu for $215.

Looks like that engine served a prior life as a boat anchor..............LOL
yeah it was full of water it was raining for 2 days before I found it lol.
And thanks for that link. That will probably be the engine of choice.
