Hi, i just recently found a Yamaha pocket bike in the trash but im having problems on finding out what model it is. The bike has no plastic except for the rear fender and tail so there are no stickers to go by.

I don’t see a vin number on the frame at all so i wanted to know if there was any way i could ID the bike so i could get some parts for it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

Eclipse, welcome to the forums.

As PBR said, get us a few pictures, and we would be able to helhelp out better on ID'ing the bike. He got his in much the same way you just got yours, by finding it abandoned in the trash.

Ok sorry if the quality is terrible but i only had my camera phone. I also found a vin on the bottom of the motor which i got a pic of. After taking a look at the motor for a sec it looks like a 4 stroke so im thinking its a 110cc, x19 s2 i think? Since it has no clutch or gear shift. But im not expert so if anyone has a clue let me know.

Also seeing as ive been looking around the forums a bit (quite nice if i do say so) but i see motors are pretty damn cheap. So depending on what it is can i put a motor with a clutch in it. Im not to big on autos. And if anyone has a suggestion for where they would get a motor it would be appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

It may... i just pulled it out of the trash 2 days ago and haven’t really had time to mess with it. The wiring is all hacked up and the only way to start the damn thing is with the electric start so I gotta get all that worked out first. Would anyone happen to have a wiring diagram so I can sort the mess out. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s all that’s wrong with it. I live in College Park and the area I live in is full of a bunch of hooligans that just cause trouble. So working out wiring problems probably isn’t something any of them would even wanna try to do. So if any of you have any ideas in where I can look for a diagram or something I would appreciate it.

Oh and if it doesn’t run what type of motor can I use. Ive always been keen on 2 strokes but what kinda motors do ppl run around here with the best performance. Or at least with the options I have to choose from

Thanks Keith

Oh and I made a slight mistake on the ident............Its a X-7 full auto bike....................get the140cc engine from the lower list

Complete Engines

before you try sorting the mess out..............do two tests to see if its worth it and I know a sight that can get the wiring harness complete for $20.00 if the tests check out......it requires a digital multimeter...............................

First test is the stator test................

take the magneto plugs and disconnect them;-disconnect the 4 wire plug and the seperate green ground lead also.....................

take the multimeter and put it on 2000 ohms or 200k.

take the black probe and put it on the green wire.

take the red probe and put it on the black/red stripe wire.

the reading should read 500 ohms + or - 50 ohms....anything under 450 its bad ;-anything over 550;-its bad too................

second test is the rectifier/diode test.......................

take the plug out of the regulator/rectifier

put multimeter on diode test

take the two probes and touch the upper and lower tabs on the right inside connector for rectifier ............this is determined with the tab orientated upward....

if it beeps its bad.......................

if it doesnt beep and says ol its good.........................

If those two things pan out go here and get a wiring harness...............................

X15 GS57, super bike parts, X18 and 19, 4-stroke super bike parts, Benelli super bike parts, large selection.

Ok cool ill give that a shot when i get home. I just have a few quick questions about all of that.

First what exactly is the regulator/rectifier and what does it look like so i can run the tests on it.

Second if i ended up going with the 140cc bike would i need a different harness than the one that this motor requires.

Third will my current carb work with the 140cc motor

And last are there any extra parts i would need with the 140cc motor assuming everything is good on my bike and if not does this motor just bolt up to the x7 frame?

Thanks,
Keith

Oh and the last one i forgot, on that site i searched for wiring harness and a bunch came up but none really said anything about being specific for the x7 or a 110cc motor for that matter. do you know which one i would need?

If you get a complete 140 engine kit you get everything you need to hook it up and start it up......................

The first pic is the rectifier...............yours is black

The second pic is the connector plug;-you diode test the upper/lower rightside terminals...........

The third pic is the stator..................

The fourth pic is the wires to ohms test at 2000 ohms or 200k;-the ground is the single green and the wire to test is black w/redstripe.................the reading should be 500 ohms or .5 k ohms

Fifth pic is the CDI box................you need one for the bike to run....

The X-18 wiring harness will work on your X-7 but you will need the gauges and handlebar controls and ignition key also........Peace

I have one other question. Ive been looking around at parts and found this site

FS529A 50cc 4-stroke Pocket Bike

The only thing is that is says that the 4stroke x7 is a 50/70 cc engine.

Are you guys positive that its a 110cc motor? I mean the pic that they have there looks exactly like the motor on my bike so im just a little curious here.

Thanks,
Keith

Also after looking at the different motors im thinking it may be a 49cc motor. Here are the pics of a new 49cc and a 110cc

49cc
49cc automatic, complete engine, 4-stroke engines for sale, sell engines for, atv's and dirt bikes, Honda XR 50cc engine, large selection.

110cc
110cc engine, 110cc Hardknock engine, kikker 5150 engine, chopper engine, old school, automatic, complete engine, 4-stroke engines for sale, sell engines for, atv's and dirt bikes, Honda XR 50cc engine, large selection, 110cc parts large selection of

If you compare the motors to the pics i posted the 110 looks a lot different than what i have so im thinking that its the 49cc and if thats the case its def gonna need an upgrade

check the cylinder if it says 48-49ml then its 50cc's, 107=110cc's. etc.
