My 2 MTA2 and Cat eye all have tires with tread on them, my previous cag and most cags I have seen have slicks, what is with the difference?

Well I don't know about the slicks that come on the China bikes.
Slicks in general are suppose to offer far superior performance than a treaded tire on the track in dry conditions.
The slicks I use work better than any treaded tire I've ever ridden on. Whether they were China made stock tires or aftermarket *** performance tires....
Slicks are the way to go if your racing but if your just cruising around then it won't make much of a difference.

Did they all come with treads or was it just some places sold them one way some another. I mean I know the fundamental differences between treaded and slicks from a functionality stand point.

as far as i know the cateye was available with only treaded tires of different kinds depending on where it was purchased.

I did have one with slicks, so they got replaced at some point?

I think places like PBU had them slicks at one time for the midbikes but I daught they still do

I will probably end up getting slicks just for better dry performance.
