Beware!

I found something out the hard way just a few moments ago. My OEM belt for my Blata waterpump arrived today. I installed it and went out for a spin to check things out. Everything appeared good to go.

THEN. . .

The motor smelled hot and as I looked down the cap to the water reservoir blew off, shooting scalding hot water right into my face. I had my helmet on, but the visor was up (sun glasses on) as it's about 98*F outside and the breeze felt good.

Luckily I got it shut down safely and then raced to the sink in the shop to cool off my face. I feel like someone dumped a bottle of hot sauce in my eyes.

Sucks.

Just be careful. The post mortum showed that the belt came off the pulley. Not sure why as the other one worked fine. (46 tooth Traxxas RC car belt)

Anyways, just passing this along. If the motor smells hot DONT LOOK DOWN! lol.

Haha that happened to me once, except I was not looking down and it shot up my helmet.. Those belts come off often.
Sounds like a tipical pocket bike day, always something going wrong, got to be careful around water caps.
Oh no!! Glad you're OK.. Why did you change out the belt? Was the old one looking worn?

When does your Phantom arrive?

Jon
Hey mister California how is your bike stuff going, lol.
Belt was rough. Waterpump was junk. Leaked bad.

New chain went on Monday. What a difference! Next is a clutch. Then new brakes! Im goin hydro on front/rear.

Phantom shipped 2day. Hoping for Friday. Ptolly Monday though.
On the China bikes you have to check everything, even new parts that you buy need sandind filing or modding. I even debur the holes in my brake discs, so they dont eat the pads.

Hi there!! lol, Been busy the last few weeks.. Seems work has picked up a little. Still no money to upgrade the polini.. Still on the search for a cheap 6 port BZM kit.. I might be able to afford it next month. Sooo Much I need. Starting that project soon.. Think I broke a rib or two the other day helping someone move so I might be off the bikes for a few weeks.. :(

**** sorry, Thought it would have more play time on it before you had to replace anything.. Cant wait to see what you do with the brakes.. Please post pics!! Have fun on that Phantom!!!
It's all good.

Not going to put anymore $ into the Blata. I think I have it sold. I haven't decided yet. I may hang onto it just so that I have another bike to ride as the racing here develops.

Already giving up on the Blata?...............Ive come to find out that even the higher dollar high quality bikes arent built too well either and wear out just as bad as any other bike...........Only thing that sux is the parts ore outrageously expensive....

My Polini 910 Carena with 50cc 6.2hp watercooled engine has a modular aluminum frame thats bolted together........All the bolt holes are starting to wobble which means its time to step up to the next size screw.....after that the aluminum bolt-ons wont have any meat left to be bolted on secure enough.............Right now I have longer screws backed up by washers and nuts holding it tight along with a lil multimetal epoxy

Im just glad I only traded it for a humongously beat-up HPI 5b clone r/c with half dead 23cc engine because it took some time intensive labor to get that Polini back in working order...There were times that I was just gonna weld the frame into 2 pcs.......Now I ride my cheapo cags more......

Oh my.. Ur kidding! :( I'm going to cry... Just scrap the Hydrolic brakes and keep it as the back up.. You know people are going to want to try out the bikes, I'd at least keep that one so you dont have to let anyone ride the Phantom.. The wife doest like it anymore huh? But ya, I guess after looking at that super bike you just bought the Blata does look like a toy.. ****, you're going to have fun....

Haha, ya i guess so.. I cant afford to fix the Polini yet and I think I really only got 1 good day out of it before it started giving me trouble.. Guess I'm just waiting for the Blata to break down. Been lucky with it so far.. I have 4 bikes in my garage right now and only 1 is working perfect.. Ohh the fun!

lol
That's about right, you ride your bike and not get hurt, then you break your ribs moving stuff, sounds like me, hangin there and keep looking for a deal on your BMZ stuff. I just got a nice Gel 12v 7Ah battery for $24 online, it was so cheap I am putting a battery in the X18. Making female plugin on the bike so I can plug my charger in like a Cateye or X7. Made a pigtail that plugs to the charger the has red and black clips to clip on to battery posts.

Instead of just increasing the size of the problem, why not helicoil the threads instead? It'll go a long way towards mitigating future issue.

Leave the epoxy in the tube. It never lasts. Especially on fasteners.

FWIW the Phantom is 50cc and almost 20hp.

Should be fun!

Drill them out to the next close SAE size if its just alittle slop. Which reminds me H/F Tools has a $25 SAE/Metric tap and die set, good deal.
