The cateye body is hard to come by it seems. Place that carries it new with expensive shipping is having website trouble, but it's to expensive goin thru them either way. I like the look of the x7's and the body is easily available. U guys think it would work out alright and look fine? I know I'd have to fab new mounts. Just lookin for thoughts on this idea.

That's a tuff one, the X7 is a bigger bike all around than a Cateye. Find an X7 owner and ask them for the overall body measurements then measure your frame. Making body mounts is not hard, you can use stanley flat shelf supports, zinc plated, and bend them to fit from the frame to the body.

I went ahead and ordered the kit tonight. I think I can make it happen. When I got this project, it came with an almost complete x1 plastic. (Think someone was gonna attempt an x1 body swap on it). But I can't find the gas tank cover anywhere to complete it. I've looked thru a ton of pics to try to compare. Check this one out. Has the 2 side by side....they look to be pretty close.

Youll be interested to know that in 2007 the 2 stroke X7's were renamed Cateyes thats why theres similarities in body features.......................You can get an X7 gastank cover on ebay.....The X7 frame if you didnt know is the same frame as the X18's too............Differences are rear swingarm is longer and the front forks/triple clamps.......

So, you got free shipping right?? Should have ordered the body, then come back with your 10% off card they sent you, right. Then a $99 2nd order would get 10% off and free shipping. Put PBP in the coupon box at dave's motors and get 5% off. The thing I like about a new body is your more careful not to crash or scratch the parts, lol

The body arrived yesterday and I got started on it earlier tonight. Just as I had hoped, this is gonna work out. I'll post some pics soon once I get more into the process. In addition, I've also got a set of x1 wheels, tires, and x7 triple tree fork brackets on the way now for it. The cat eye forks are set wider and will work, but it's a little snug with the x7 body on it. The x7 triple tree brackets will bring my forks in more, and also not make the x1 wheel have unwanted gaps from the wide cateye forks.

The x1 front wheel will not fit if you use the x7 triple trees... The x1 wheel have a much wider hub and even without the spacer on the axle is a no go... You'll need x1 tripples or have use the cateye's...
