All thats needed is 100cc's of light duty oil to lube the gear and the bearings.........Any more than 100ccs will create drag............

I use chain lube with white graphite and some 5w/20 amsoil.....

Lately Ive been using alot of #350wt silicone oil used for r/c shocks........It seems to be the slickest stuff Ive ever used and it resists some pretty high heat aswell......

If ya got a Walgreens nearby they sell Co2 canisters for those self tanning systems...4 canisters nine bucks.........If not paintball gun Co2 will work aswell as the ones from BB guns...they have smaller ones too for those Co2 activated drain clearers/toilet plungers

here she is, i did have to drive 2 hours to get it at 6am but i thought it was a good deal and wanted to get it before he posted it on craigslist. it says margay on the front steering pieces and on the engine bolts has a M on the bolt so im guessing its a vintage margay , i put a motor i had ready to roll on it so i can work on the hard starting briggs 5 hp that came on it, lol now i got 3 of those brigs 5hp, need to tune 2 of them up and get them running

Awesome pickup and nice price..It is a Margay..I had one of those back in the 80s.That engine should be a raptor or animal build-up....The reason why it probably starts up rough is because it needs racegas or a carb rebuild...does it have a pumper carb or a stock briggs carb?,,,,,,,,

Did the previous owner give ya the air dams too?Like on my CRG kart?

it has the original carb, i put the briggs that i took off of a rotortiller i bought for $40. i was hoping maybe you could tell me how to get rid of the governer on it :D pretty please. I would love to find one of the original motors for it so i can have it back to the way it came off the line. i had no idea margay was built in stl. right on kingshighway, i must have drove past them and ate lunch down there a thousand times and never knew. i wonder if they sell parts out of the factory.
no air dams, so i kinda want to find those also, im a bit weird about vintage things where i insist on them being original as possible and even though i dont plan to sell some of the things i own i still try to make them worth as much as possible, i guess to make myself feel like im cool or something i dont know i just know that i want to hunt down the original things im missing. someone switched the way the front steering is supposed to be hooked up. im thinking maybe if i bring the kart with me to my next dr. appt in downtown stl. i may try to swing it by the factory and see if maybe i know someone who works there (stl is a small city, everyone seems to know everyone or at least once a day i would see someone i knew in different parts of the city) so im hoping maybe one of them working there worked with me or for me at one point in time, cause i love getting the hook up. Cam2 mind if i ask what part of the country you live in, im not asking your address so please dont worry about me annoying you in person, just thinking about asking if you were within a hundred miles or so maybe i could pay or barter with you for some motor mods ? just a thought, dont worry i wont be butt hurt if you would rather not say, i completely understand. i do want to thank you for taking the place of my father on here lol, now you see what that poor bastard had to put up with for 23 years before i finally left the nest.

its a briggs 130202 old style horizontal 5 hp, i also was wondering if that other motor that i got yesterday for $5 if that would be worth working on and modding or should i just get a clone. they have races an hour south of here, gonna google those to see what id have to do to try to race, im sure they probably want those ****s on there for protection, just a guess.

Its all good Beansie..I dont mind helping others out and I try not to judge anyone and if I do its not too harshly unless Ive been judged harshly first..I live in Eastern Long Island NY near the Hamptons and dont mind saying where I live or even meeting members of this site which ive already met a few from the bikes Ive purchased from them..........

I like how you want things you have to be as original as possible...Im like that with some of my relics too..............LOL

Id contact the techs at the racetrack and have them fax you over a spec sheet on whats required to race..............You definately need to have most of the hardware safety wired i do know for a fact but as far as the powerplant the rules vary by class......The air dams are for protection aswell as highspeed handling..My CRG kart goes a topspeed of 133mph and I can practically make wicked turns at that speed with the airdams on and handle it like the karts built on rails...........
cool, im trying to find them now, maybe ill get lucky and they are racing, im about an hour away and my and my daughter are bored so if someone answers the phone there and says its on, were getting in the jeep and cruising down there to check it out. dang ny is a haul, i think thats even 8-10 hours from my gma's house in warren pa.

i just found out there is kart racing about 30 miles from my back door, im gonna go to the next race on saturday and see what they are all about and what i gotta do to get in, gonna have to check out their website and see what i gotta do to be legal to race, i used to race RC cars in california and did well, had first place in the class even 3 months after i moved away and i never once won first place in a race, always 2 or 3 religiously so i stomped everyone in points. :p thats weird how the guy who never won a first is first in the class. so im hoping i can win some loot and mainly for me it would be an awesome way to get away from this house. hey CAM2, is that motor i showed you decent enough to race with, in your opinion would it be worth trying to get ready to race in two weeks in the clone division? my old lady is gonna flip when she gets news im gonna pay money to enter this " another one of your junk yard hunks of sh#*'s " into a race that cost about $25 to enter :D do you have any suggestions i can do to this briggs to race with it or should i try to get a 5.5 or 6.5 clone? i have 3 of these briggs so naturally if it would compete with the clones id like to use these but need to know the best bang for my buck in mods to get it done quick as possible on a very limited budget. if able to help id appreciate it

With the right mods and carb that engine can be a good contender,,,,on my old runners I used to drill and tap the cases to act as a power breather to get max revs sort of like my homemade headbreather kit for 110cc/125cc superbikes........I used to elongate the intake 3-4" with a PVC tubing to make a place for the barbed ends sort of like my X15

Heres what most people running that class will have done to their engines or part of atleast..If theres a choice between engines and classes id start out in the lower class and build-up a sweet powerplant for the bigger class for the next season
