hey guys, wondering if this fitting i picked up tonight will work for a boost bottle? it has a little ball in the tip of it which im not sure if it can be removed or possibly just drilled out if you think it will cause it not to work. if not i can just return it and try again on finding a better fitting.

Thats a zerk fitting,,drilling those is pretty hard to drill out....
Does that front piece with the ball unscrew, then you could take the spring & ball out, and put your hose over that part and the end into the manifold.
Dang, I guess I got the wrong one, qll they had was ones with the lil ball. I'll try again tomorrow. Thank-you
At a hardware store they have brass barbed fitting, 1/4" & 5/16" with a 1/8 NPT male thread at the bottom. Drill and tap your intake manifold to a 1/8" NPT female thread, maybe some tape or sealer om the threads.

What he said, or file or grind a little at the ball end and the ball and spring will fall out.
It's really too small, you need atleast 1/4" ID all the way to the boost bottle.
Just establishing how to de ball a zerk,
Remember kids have your zerks spayed or neutered.:D
i think im going to try a used air fitting, im pretty sure cam2 had recommended it at one time but honestly i completely forgot about it until someone mentioned the hardware store. would anybody be able to show me what exactly i might use or a couple different things that might work? if not im sure ill figure it out, :p at least lets hope.

The brake caliper bleeder nipples work alot better,,,,,Ive used zerk fittinbgs,,brake bleeders,,barbed fittings of all sizes,,throttle cable elbows,,airchuck fittings,,drilled through screws

And Ive used sealer to seal the threads of all.............

by sealer, do you mean locktite? or something like it. would most auto parts stores carry the brake caliper bleeder nipples? i went to AZ and them guys couldnt help me one bit. i walked out empty handed. CAM2, i know i ask for a lot but is there any way possible for you to show me a picture of exactly what i should take into the AZ to show them so that neither of us can screw it up this time.
awesome CAM2 thank you very much. i guess you figured a series of questions were about to come, thanks for the photo walkthrough
What kind of a gain like Horsepower or top end speed could you get from mastering your own boost bottle ? Say from a 50cc 2 stroke. Or what engine benefits most from the boost bottle ?

The boost bottle enhances bottomend takeoff,,midrange power and offers a few extra revs on the topend....When you do the boost bottles,,lightened flywheel,,rocket key, velocity stack,,hp airfilter,hp exhaust, lightened and modded clutch then tune the engine in for the changes the results are like night and day without even bumping compression or doing any porting..............
Yeah, but the porting and other mods just make it Sweeter. I went to SPRUs and found the alum manifold for $12.99 and $2.99 S/H, dremeled it to match the port, drilled and tapped it w/ 1/8" NPT, tapered thread, and got a $2 brass fitting, got my teflon tape, and it was done.

Ok, I have it all together and drilled and tapped the manifold. i have a question, my nipple is exposed on the inside of the manifold and i was wondering if that could block some air coming into the carb. I am wondering do you think i should grind the nipple down so that the manifold has more flow? or am i nuts???

here is a pic of my bottle and the manifold with the nipple.

another question is will my boost bottle work with the long tube i have on there or should i shorten it up? the bottle is about 4" in length with caps on, the tube is about 9" i would say.

thanks

You need to grind out that protrusion so its smooth...........

.

Heres how I modded a pumper carb intake to have a boost bottle nipple..

nice, i wish id have done it that way too, now. :p thanks

do you think my bottle is too big for a cat eye? im making another right now for the fake blade, im making it about an inch smaller with a smaller fuel line cause im worried its too big.

i appreciate the pics and the advice, im going out to my shop (the back porch) and gonna grind that nipple down now.

thanks again cam.

oh also i was looking at threads where people are asking about nitrous, i found a whippet cracker at the goodwill yesterday for a $1 and i was wondering what your thoughts are on using those small cartridges like bb gun air cartridges but they are made for dispensing whipped cream, and how they might help a boost? or would it help enough to notice?
