I've had an x15 for a few years now but, the gears are really starting to bother me. I don't know if i got a lemon but my gear sequence is 1 up, 3 down(4 total). Is this how it is supposed to be??:confused:

Sounds backwards compared to a Honda 110 cc 1-down-3-up, but hey, I think MotoGP bikes use the down is up thing, and who cares about first! I bet you could actually shift faster from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and to 4th, pushing it down, compared to having to pull it up!

i got a 2010 x 19 and its the same way 1up 3 down

if you guys used the linkage shifter that the x18 has you could flip the pattern to 1d 3u

Thanks for that blitz! Is it pretty easy to swap the linkage out? does it bolt right up, or is there fabrication involved?

On my 2010 x19 its 1up 3down

On my 2006 x18 its all down

And on my 2009 x18 its 1 down and 3 up

So when we switch bikes talk about a cluster f of people shifting up when there supposed to be shifting down ect ect I don't understand how the same motors are different shift patterns I know the linkage on the x18 is part of some difference but my other bike is the same model with a linkage and different also l

Dang, I am not supposed to be ROTFL this early! ;) Thanks for making me smile!

On my little brothers FZR 600, the shift from first to second, is a pretty far kick up, I hit neutral all the time, rev it for a second like (what the hell) then realize I need to kick it up like another half an inch.

silly enough, while at a stop, it's much harder to get neutral <--when i actually might want to be in neutral, unlike while entering a corner, or leaving it for that matter. :(

dragon, the short answer is the motors came with whatever the chinese had at the time
my x15 came with a 4 down while my 18 came with a 1d 3u
the only thing you can do is use the shifting options to arrange it how you like it to be
all the performance motors are 4u or 4d depending on the shifter
i like my race bike to be 4u cause its easier to down shift with a stomp on the shifter while im trying to brake and lean into the corner, then when i need to dig under to upshift im usually more upright on the bike and its safer, but thats just me, use what feels right to you

For these motors I guess I kinda prefer the pushing down to up shift because shifting isn't smooth on these Chinese bikes but, its when switch from a YZ125 with the normal shift pattern, its not fun to shift from third to second while accelerating. At first I was just thinking that they must of put the trans together wrong. lol.
drgnprelude , it must be really interesting switching bikes and changing the way you shift.:rolleyes:

oh ya its crazy a few days ago we took out 5 bikes and we would switch at every fill up and man was it a riot even tho I know all my bikes its just instinct to shift how u were on the last bike nothin' like crankin out of first and shifting into neutral or being in third and locking up the rear wheel thinking your going to 4th and then woops nope second lol then I hop on my Suzuki to ride home and I really have to think about it while I shift its not like the big bikes have a gear indicator so I can c what im in its fun tho

The ony one im gonna change is my 06 that is all down with the linkage im going to eliminate the linkage and just out a regular shifter on it so it will b all up and that's the one I will race with I got that one dialed in nice and its the only one with no chicken strips

Oh and blitz trust me im never saying your wrong you def know your ish when it comes to these bikes by far I've only been into them since October of last year when I took my first one out the crate and like all my things with a motor I can only leave them stock for a week then the extras come in now I got 4 bikes and having a blast with em

And ya I have realized that what ever they had at the time is what went one these so you could say almost every bike is one of a kind lol

I have an x15 and mines like that . But it's hard to get in 1st and it seems like it slips outta gear sometimes . Also gotta kick down kinda hard to get into 2nd and 3rd or it wont go into gear . and It wont go into 4th at all . Any one know why or have any ideas ??

Sounds like youre gonna need some transmission work on the shift drum and shift forks.

One of my 110cc semi-auto engines shifted similar to your problem description...

the shift drum bearing came apart and I had lil ball bearings shot peening the inside of the case and getting crunched up between the gears causing chaos...

Any recommendations on how to go about fixing it ?? Fairly new to these just trying to get it all fixed it up so I can pass it to my little brother .

I myself would dismount the engine to disassemble it to see whats wrong then either fix whats broken if its an easy fix or replace the whole engine if it isnt.

Get a real 125cc engine w/ 4 speed manual trans 54mm bore & 54mm stroke. My 125cc Quad ATV is a 110cc with longer stroke 56.2mm and 52.4mm bore, which is really 120cc. Yours is 107cc. New China 125cc complete engine $300 to $400.
