Hello everyone! New to this forum this is my first post I believe. I have picked up an X2 bike I think… it’s the one with the drive belt on the clutch so assuming it’s the X2? Anyways it was in rough condition when I picked it up and am currently underway restoring it so far the frame has been sanded and painted and the plastics the same. New fuel tank was purchased and installed along with new spark plug and battery. So far the bike is not running yet. Electrics are a mess and still trying to hunt down electrical demons. I will keep everyone posted as to what I find but so far nothing when new battery is connected. Perhaps the connectors are corroded or a bad ground? Either way I’ll keep everyone in the loop!

UPDATE:
so the bike has no pull start so I focused on wiring the electrics properly to get the electric start going. Unfortunately the key snapped in the ignition so I had to bypass that. I also had an issue with the solenoid which a new one is ordered. I bypassed straight to the starter. I noticed the engine wouldn’t turn over well. I tried moving the back wheel and noticed it was stiff so I realigned the wheel but this was not the issue at all. The actual piston struggled to move. But then I took the spark plug out it moved freely. After some research hydrolock came up fairly quick. I used an endoscope and sure enough there’s a puddle of fuel at the bottom of the engine and sludge in the exhaust. Gonna take it apart and clean out everything and try start it up. I’ll keep everyone posted!

Good idea. I would probably have some piston rings on hand just in case. It is possible it will need more but I have thrown in new rings and revived many engines. And of course gaskets.

Gonna order a rebuild kit tonight as I tried to empty it and it’s still quite difficult to turn over. It started when I poured a little gas into the spark plug hole but quickly died. It looks like from the endoscope the white stuff building up inside could have been water mixed with oil. Gonna do a rebuild just to be safe might look into a big bore kit too.

New solenoid and pull start in but unfortunately rear wheel is difficult to turn the wheel itself spins freely just the engine won’t crank over I wonder if it’s the cvt clutch or the engine itself because it’s starts no problem and drives? Thanks everyone!

those CVTs have a gear drive section on the output side the vent on top may have allowed water into it you should take the cover off and turn it by hand to check if everything spins ok.

be extremally carful with the CVT parts are no longer available and i haven't seen one for sale in years.

Thanks MrKitty! Seems to turn perfect I started taking everything apart until I found the issue. I believe it’s the clutch because when I took off the CVT the clutch pads had broken off the clutch and it was filthy inside. Gave it a good clean and have a new clutch on the way fingers crossed that solves it!

Hello everyone! So I’m pleased to say that the locked rear wheel issue is fixed! It was the clutch the whole time! The pads on the outside of the clutch had worn and broke off causing it to lock up when rotating. All I need is a pull starter claw and new brake handles and she’s good to go!

Hello everyone! Brand new pull starter and claw arrived this morning. After installing the pull start I noticed it was very hard to start. A good tip if your struggling to pull start, pull the cord in the direction it’s facing out of the pull starter for example I was pulling the cord laterally where the hole it was coming out of was facing horizontal. When I did this it wasn’t stiff and started straight away hope this helps!
